Meet Your Sonoma County Area Captain
Maia Pedrosa
Born and raised in San Mateo County (Daly City & South San Francisco), moved to Sonoma County when she returned home to California after graduating from college. A graduate from Macalester College with a degree in Psychology and Sociology, where she also played Division III basketball. She combines her passion and enthusiasm for sports with her commitment to serving the youth of local communities in her role at the National Academy of Athletics.
Maia enjoys spending her time being active (going to the gym, doing yoga, and going on outdoor walks), reading new books, and discovering new places to travel. Basketball brought Maia to new cities as she grew up, playing competitive basketball since her Preteen years, and it was through this that she found the joy of exploring new places. While basketball was her main focus, she has experience playing volleyball. Both sports taught her skills, such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance, that are central to her life. Maia serves as Area Captain for Sonoma County, and she is excited to encourage, empower, and create lasting positive experiences for kids through sports.
